Opener
The unit opens with an image, the goal, what students will achieve and a map of the components, each with its focus and its learning outcome.
L1
Four pages for two components. The reading moves in stages: before, during (two readings with different goals), after, and an extension. Grammar comes with form, use and examples from the text.
L2
The unit's compact lesson. On the Pronunciation page, students notice a feature of the language, work out the rule, tell it apart and use it in a short exchange.
L3
A second structure, taken from recognition to production, and a speaking task with a purpose and a result.
L4
A model text guides the writing. Use It Now teaches the expressions for one language function and puts them to use in a simulated real-life situation.
Active Sections
The unit's word bank, organized by topic, and a reference for the two grammar structures, each with consolidation exercises.
Active Sections
Extra practice of the unit's vocabulary, grammar and expressions, from controlled to semi-controlled, with a short reading.
Active Sections
A team project with roles, steps, a product and assessment criteria. The Review goes back over the unit and ends with an I can… self-assessment.
